Miracle Based Skill Clusters
Although each of these skill clusters is of a religious nature, there are distinct
differences in the manner (and in two cases deity) recognized and worship by the
practitioner. The first three; Healer, Friar and Cleric are clearly followers of the faith
of the Holy Church (Roman Catholic). Each chooses to express his Christian experience in
distinctly different manners. The Shaman and Druid actually are best characterized as
practicing animistic or pagan religions. The specific nature of this practice is, however,
not public knowledge as such would probably result in their execution.
A marginal renegade from the Holy Church, not above taking compensation for his service
to mankind. The character will have no hopes of position or recognition from the organized
church, in fact this would probably be distained. The Healer's methods will include any
that he has found, or been taught, are successful at treating or healing disease or
injury. Socially, a gracious and humble individual well loved at least for the service
provided and often for stories and/or news from the itinerant lifestyle.

A follower of the tenets, writing and philosophy of Francis of Assisi and/or Claire of
Assisi. Renunciation of the things of the temporal world, money (Vow of Poverty), sex (Vow
of Chastity) and idleness (Vow of Service). Friars lead a vigorous and disciplined life of
service to the poor and disadvantaged, providing food and succor to those unable to
provide it for themselves and healing of disease and injury. A general concern for the
well-being of the land and the pursuit of peace lead to occasional political participation
with peasant uprisings. Extremely comfortable and joyful amongst friends, the Friar is
often avoided and scorned by the mid-to-upper classes. The example of ascetic life is just
too bright a light, exposing much that is unfaithful in the hearts of comfortable people.

An adherent to and follower of the Holy Church in Christian leadership. This can apply
as well to a mendicant in a Benedictine (or similar) monastery as to a lower member of a
parish organization. It is within the protective arms of such organizations that one may
find some of the most outlandish and progressive pursuits of the knowledge and
understanding of etheric principles and practice. People find the Cleric to be of a
stand-offish or haughty nature, unwilling to mingle with the sinners and or
pagans of the world.

A minister to the old animistic gods of his region and race. Appeasement
and coercion are tools to push these little gods to assist mortals in their
endeavors. A thin line of understanding and wisdom protects the Shaman from persecution at
the hands of Church authorities. Alternately a pagan to be avoided at all cost and a wise
seer whose counsel from olden times and ways may be of immeasurable value. The life of the
Shaman is rarely comfortable.

Druid - Naturalist
|
Age: +8 years |
A minister to the earth, land and sea. The original Celtic Druids were largely
eliminated by Roman conquerors prior to the sixth century C.E. The Mediæval Druid is a
naturalist and societal observer, familiar with scientific endeavor and a master of
diplomacy. The mystical nature ascribed to Druids prohibits them from developing casual
friendships. Prone to difficulties with Church officials.
