The Incantations
The creation of magical effects through expression of sound. The practice of Miracles, Coercive and Therapeutic Magic are enhanced through their expression in these
forms. The creation of appropriate sounds must be possible for the practitioner to
successfully cast spells utilizing these methods. The advantages of these methods may be
combined with any other method when more than one method is known.
Enchantment Method
The magical power of music is especially strong in the casting of Coercive magic such that Coercive spells are cast as if two
additional levels of advanced training are possessed. This method of magic is further
enhanced through the creation and use of a Magical Artifact
fashioned in the form of a musical instrument.
Word Method
The magical power of language and the spoken word enhance the casting of Miracles, Coercive and Therapeutic magic such that spells of these types are cast as if
one additional level of advanced training are possessed. Any spell cast using this method
may, at the castor's discretion, be cast in the utterance of a single word at five times
(5X) the usual fatigue cost. This reduces the casting time for the spell to a single
second. This method of magic is further enhanced through the creation and use of a Magical Artifact fashioned in the form of a staff or book
Prayer Method
The magical power of humility and obedience as expressed in a personal relationship
and/or attunement with the supernatural being(s) of one's belief system.
- Christian
- This is the primary expression of this method. It is expressed through communication
with God-Jesus-Spirit and/or canonized saints of the Holy Roman Church. Within such a
relationship every Miracle is cast as if two additional levels
of advanced training are possessed for that spell skill. Coercive
and Therapeutic magic are also enhanced by the use of prayer
such that spells of these two types are cast as if one additional level of advanced
training is possessed.
- Pagan
- An alternate expression may be through communication and appeasement of the local
animistic "gods" of a region. True Miracles may not be performed through this
prayer relationship, but the advantages for Coercive and Therapeutic magic still apply. In addition, any spell affecting
nature or natural beasts is cast as if one additional level of advanced training is
possessed. Such prayer may be further enhanced through the creation and use of a Magical Artifact fashioned in the form of a Bundle, Cap or Staff.
