Applying Damage

When your character (or the GM's character/monster) receives damage discussions must be made as to how it is to be applied to the character. All damage must be assessed to your character (written on the character sheet) before any further actions will be accepted by that character. Playtesters have determined the following general guidelines to be fairly effective in prolonging character viability.

Is the damage critical? There really aren't any decisions to be made. Write down the amount of damage sustained and location. Then determine if the blow was incapacitating; limbs may be rendered useless, organs destroyed or the character may simply be dead.
Is the damage to the head? If such damage is not critical, spend Fatigue/Stamina leaving one point for continued consciousness. If you've got damage left over, or it is critical, spend your helm - you won't need it if you're dead anyway. Finally multiply the remainder by 5 and apply it against the Body. If you're dead by less than 5 points, spend the last Fatigue/Stamina and pass out (again unless it's critical). Recalculate your Body and hope what your fighting isn't hungry.
Is the damage to the chest? Usually it is best to take the first non-critical chest shot at full damage if you can. Save your Fatigue/Stamina for later. Character's with low Body scores, or previous damage, may want to use some Fatigue/Stamina to offset some or all of the damage. Apply the remainder against Body.
Is the damage to a limb? This is usually a "flesh wound" just apply one-fifth of the damage against your Body and be done with it. Critical damage can incapacitate, maim or amputate a limb. The attacker rolls percentage dice. If the result is less than the percentage of critical damage done [Damage*100/Body]% the limb is rendered useless at the point of impact.
A final detail to keep in mind on limb damage: if the total damage accumulated to the limb exceeds the Body score of the recipient, all additional damage to that limb is considered critical.

The GM will keep a similar tally for their Characters/Monsters, though not necessarily as detailed, and will often more rigidly follow these guidelines. There is simply not enough time to make more subtle decisions when there are a dozen monsters to follow.

Death

Death occurs when the Body score is reduced to zero. The body continues to "bleed" one Body point per turn (3 per minute) after death. The body may be resuscitated by repairing this accumulating damage etherically. Once the Body level exceeds zero again natural healing can begin and the character is alive.
